Who Is Ann-Marie Tejcek?
Ann-Marie Tejcek is a healthcare executive from Carmel, Indiana, who is competing on The Amazing Race season 39 with her 29-year-old daughter, Riley Tejcek, a United States Marine Corps officer and former Team USA bobsled pilot. The pair were introduced when the season’s cast was announced in 2026 as a mother-daughter team, and they have remained in contention through the early legs of a race that sends 13 teams across five continents.
Ann-Marie brings a different kind of endurance to the race. Where her daughter brings military and elite-sport fitness, Ann-Marie brings decades of professional experience, composure and a mother’s knowledge of exactly how to motivate — and when to back off — when the pressure rises at a roadblock or a detour.
Early Life & Background
Ann-Marie Tejcek is based in Carmel, Indiana, a city north of Indianapolis, where she has built her career in healthcare leadership. Her daughter Riley attended George Washington University before going on to bobsled for Team USA and then joining the Marine Corps, and the family’s story — a mother who raised a daughter who became an elite athlete and a military officer — is at the heart of their Amazing Race appeal.
Before the race, Ann-Marie was not a public figure. Like many Amazing Race contestants, she came to the show through her family connection rather than a television career, and her profile has grown episode by episode as viewers have followed the mother-daughter team around the world.
Career/Journey
Ann-Marie Tejcek works as a healthcare executive, a role that demands organization, decision-making under pressure and the ability to lead teams through complex problems — all skills that transfer directly to The Amazing Race. On the show, she and Riley have had to navigate foreign cities, complete physical and mental challenges, and manage the emotional highs and lows of a race in which a single mistake can cost a team its place.
The Amazing Race 39 premiered on CBS on September 30, 2026, hosted by Phil Keoghan, and airs on Wednesday nights at 9:30 p.m. Eastern, with episode seven, “The Amazing Nightmare,” airing on November 4, 2026. Ann-Marie and Riley were still racing after the Leg 6 non-elimination, keeping the mother-daughter team in the hunt for the $1 million prize.
Their journey is also a family story. Racing with a parent or a child is one of the show’s most demanding formats, because the partnership is tested in public, under stress, and far from home. For Ann-Marie and Riley, that test has become one of the season’s most talked-about storylines.
