Who Is Riley Tejcek?
Riley Tejcek is a 29-year-old Marine Corps officer from San Diego who competed as a bobsled pilot for Team USA before joining The Amazing Race. She races on season 39 with her 56-year-old mother, Ann-Marie Tejcek, and the mother-daughter team were among the 13 teams announced for the CBS season, which premiered on September 30, 2026.
Tejcek’s path to the starting line is unusual even by Amazing Race standards. Few contestants arrive with both military service and international winter-sport competition on their resume, and that combination of fitness, composure and problem-solving has made her one of the season’s most talked-about newcomers as the race airs on Wednesday nights on CBS.
Early Life & Background
Riley Tejcek attended George Washington University, where her athletic career took shape before she moved into bobsled. She trained as a bobsled pilot with Team USA, a role that demands explosive sprinting power at the start, precise steering at high speed, and total trust between the pilot and the brakeman. It is a sport in which fractions of a second decide results, and it rewards the same calm, decisive thinking that The Amazing Race demands at roadblocks and detours.
After her bobsled career, Tejcek joined the United States Marine Corps, where she serves as an officer. Military life added navigation, endurance and team leadership to her sporting background, and it also shaped the partnership at the heart of her Amazing Race team: a mother and daughter who know each other well enough to argue, recover and keep moving.
Career/Journey
Tejcek’s sporting career began in track and field-style speed and power work before she found bobsled, where she competed for Team USA as a pilot. She later balanced that elite athletic life with a career in the Marine Corps, an unusual dual track that Parade highlighted when it introduced the season 39 cast in 2026.
On The Amazing Race 39, hosted by Phil Keoghan, Tejcek and her mother Ann-Marie race against 12 other teams, including former professional soccer players Ali Krieger and Joanna Lohman. The season was filmed across the Americas and beyond in May and June 2026, and it airs on CBS on Wednesday nights at 9:30 p.m. Eastern, with episode seven, “The Amazing Nightmare,” airing on November 4, 2026.
The mother-daughter pairing is one of the season’s most appealing storylines. Ann-Marie, 56, and Riley, 29, bring a 27-year age gap to the race, but they share a competitive streak and a willingness to take on physical challenges, from heights to high-speed tasks, that has kept them in contention through the early legs.
