Who Is Katie Schultz?
Katie Schultz is a Murray, Kentucky, esthetician who joined The Amazing Race season 39 with her sister Charlotte Schultz, 20, also an esthetician. The sisters were introduced as one of 13 teams chasing the $1 million prize, beginning at Jack Poole Plaza in Vancouver, where every team received an Express Pass at the starting line in a first-ever twist for the series.
As sisters who work in the same field, Katie and Charlotte arrived with a close, everyday working relationship. Estheticians spend their days with clients, managing appointments, reading people and staying calm under pressure, and the sisters hoped that patience and teamwork would carry them through long travel days, tricky clues and the stress of racing against the clock.
Their race, however, ended early. After surviving the opening leg in Vancouver, Katie and Charlotte were eliminated in Leg 2, finishing 12th overall. It was a disappointing end for a team that had barely begun its journey, but it also placed them firmly in the season’s opening story, as the second team to leave the race.
Early Life & Background
Katie Schultz is from Murray, Kentucky, where she and Charlotte were both based when the season was cast. Growing up as sisters gave them a shared family history and a shorthand that only siblings have: they know how the other reacts to stress, how to lift each other up and when to give each other space.
Before the race, Katie was not a television personality. She built her working life as an esthetician in Kentucky, a hands-on, client-focused career that rewards attention to detail and a steady manner. That background shaped the sisters’ approach to the race: careful, cooperative and focused on getting the job done rather than seeking attention.
Career/Journey
Katie Schultz works as an esthetician in Murray, Kentucky, and her sister Charlotte works in the same field. Together, they entered The Amazing Race 39 as a young, close-knit sister team, and they began the season with the same advantage as every other team: an Express Pass handed out at the starting line in Vancouver.
The sisters survived Leg 1 in Vancouver, where the race included a Roadblock at BC Place and a Pit Stop at VanDusen Botanical Garden, but they could not survive Leg 2. Katie and Charlotte finished last in that leg and were eliminated in 12th place, ending their season as the second team to leave the race.
The Amazing Race 39 premiered on CBS on September 30, 2026, hosted by Phil Keoghan, and episode seven, “The Amazing Nightmare,” aired on November 4, 2026. Although Katie’s journey ended in Leg 2, being cast among only 13 teams remains a notable credit, and the sisters’ early exit helped shape the season’s opening weeks as the field narrowed toward the final.
