Who Is Maddie Ingoldsby?
Maddie Ingoldsby is an English dancer and actress who was announced in July 2026 as one of five new professionals joining Strictly Come Dancing for series 24, alongside Aleksandra Isaeva, Mark Karmalita, Lethabo Monametsi and Cristian Priori. She was partnered with Love Island winner Cach Mercer for the 2026 season, covered in our Strictly Come Dancing 2026 Cast hub, and she quickly became one of the most talked-about new professionals of the series.
Ingoldsby’s background sets her apart from most Strictly professionals. She is a UK National Ballroom Champion, an eight-time Amateur 10-Dance World Champion, a Rising Star champion and an Under 21 World Ballroom Champion, and as a child she played the title role in Annie in the West End and appeared in the 2019 film Last Christmas as the younger version of Emilia Clarke’s character Kate.
Early Life & Background
Madison Vaughan Ingoldsby was born on February 19, 2005, in London, and she was raised in Henley-on-Thames. She attended Claires Court School, and she trained with the British Theatre Academy from the age of six, an early start that led to stage and screen work while she was still a child.
In 2016, at the age of eleven, Ingoldsby performed on Strictly Come Dancing itself, dancing in a professional group routine and appearing on the companion show It Takes Two. She went on to play the title role in Annie in the West End, and in 2019 she appeared in the romantic comedy film Last Christmas as the younger Kate, the character played as an adult by Emilia Clarke.
Career/Journey
Alongside her acting, Ingoldsby built a formidable competitive dance career. She became UK National Ballroom Champion and won the Amateur 10-Dance World Championship eight times, along with Rising Star and Under 21 World Ballroom titles. Her partnership with Mark Karmalita, another of the 2026 Strictly intake, made the pair one of the most successful young couples on the competitive circuit.
The step up to Strictly came in July 2026, when the BBC announced Ingoldsby as one of five new professionals for series 24. She was paired with Cach Mercer, the Love Island winner, and the partnership brought together two young stars at the start of their television careers. Fellow new professionals Julian Caillon, Neil Jones and Alexis Warr were also part of the 2026 professional company.
Ingoldsby has said that joining Strictly felt like a dream come true, and that she hoped to bring joy to the ballroom and to inspire young dancers watching at home. With a West End leading role, a film credit and eight world titles behind her before her twenty-second birthday, she is one of the most accomplished young professionals the show has signed in years.
