Their run ended in week five, when they were eliminated on October 25, 2026, finishing 12th. Early Life & Background
Alexis Warr was born on June 5, 2000, in Highland, Utah, in the United States. She began training at the Center Stage Performing Arts Studio in Orem at the age of six, studying ballet and jazz before moving into ballroom dancing at the age of 13. She later added contemporary, hip hop, tap and gymnastics to her training, building the all-round versatility that would define her career.
Her professional work began early. Warr toured with Derek Hough, performed as a dancer on America’s Got Talent, and appeared in the music video for JoJo Siwa’s 2024 single “Karma”. She also spent time in the Dancing with the Stars troupe in the United States, gaining television experience before her breakthrough on So You Think You Can Dance.
Career/Journey
Warr’s breakthrough came in 2022, when she won season 17 of So You Think You Can Dance, earning the title of “America’s Favorite Dancer”. She was the first ballroom-trained dancer to win the competition, and the victory made her name in the American dance world. Judges and viewers alike praised her for bringing ballroom technique to a show dominated by contemporary and hip hop styles.
The BBC came calling in July 2025, when Warr and Julian Caillon were announced as the new Strictly Come Dancing professionals for series 23. Partnered with George Clarke, Warr reached the final and finished as joint runner-up, a debut season that few professionals can match. She returned for series 24 in 2026 with Shaun Wright-Phillips, but the partnership ended in week five, with the couple eliminated on October 25, 2026, in 12th place.
Off the dance floor, Warr married Jake Burton on November 15, 2018. The couple separated on June 23, 2026, and divorced shortly afterwards. She remains one of Strictly’s most technically accomplished professionals, and her So You Think You Can Dance title gives her a competitive pedigree that sets her apart within the professional company.
