Who Is Catrin Richards?
Catrin Richards is a 23-year-old teaching assistant from Aberdare, Wales, who became a finalist on Big Brother UK 2026, series 23 on ITV2. She entered the Big Brother house on Day 20, one of two late arrivals alongside Lucinda “Twinks” Burnett, and reached the final six after just over two weeks inside. She finished sixth in the live final on November 5, 2026.
Catrin stood out from her first appearance for her Valleys warmth and loud, fun energy. Before entering the house she said she would bring “entertainment” and “a bit of Valleys charm,” adding: “I think I’ll be able to bring fun vibes. Because right now there’s drama, and there’s peace. There’s nothing in the middle – fun, loud – there’s none of that.”
Early Life & Background
Catrin Richards comes from Aberdare, a town in the Cynon Valley in South Wales, and works as a teaching assistant. Little has been shared publicly about her life before the show beyond her job and her Welsh roots, which she made a central part of her identity on screen. Her promise of “Valleys charm” was a nod to the warmth and humour of the South Wales Valleys, and it set the tone for how viewers met her: upbeat, outspoken and ready to lift the mood of a house that had already been living together for three weeks.
Teaching assistants work closely with children in the classroom, and Catrin’s job shaped the way she came across in the house: patient, chatty and quick to look after the people around her. It also made her one of the more grounded housemates in a series full of bigger personalities, and her calm, good-humoured presence helped her settle in quickly despite arriving three weeks late.
Big Brother UK 2026 Journey
Catrin entered the Big Brother house on Day 20, three weeks into the series, as one of two new housemates alongside Twinks Burnett. The pair arrived at a moment when the original fifteen housemates had already formed alliances and settled into routines, and both knew the late start would be a challenge. Twinks said the hardest part of joining three weeks in “will be earning people’s trust,” adding that the others might think she had “a mole or an agenda” — and Catrin faced the same uphill task.
Despite the late start, Catrin reached the final six. The series ran for 54 days, the longest ITV series of Big Brother yet, and was billed as a “house of surprises,” with weekly themes and returning Big Brother stars dropping in as house guests. Catrin survived the nominations and evictions that cut the house down from seventeen housemates to six finalists, and she went into the final on November 5, 2026, alongside Twinks Burnett, Lynx Noumey, Rochelle Rackham, Samuel Keen and Yasmin. In the final, she finished sixth, behind winner Rochelle Rackham.
The final six were decided after a double eviction on November 4, when Frankie Carter and Omar El Mayer were voted out on Day 52, leaving Catrin and the other five finalists to face the public vote in the live final. A reunion episode, Big Brother: The Reunion, follows on November 6, 2026.
