Who Is Angie Katsanevas?
Angie Katsanevas is an American reality television personality and businesswoman best known as a cast member of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, which she joined in season 3 in 2022 as a friend of the housewives and was upgraded to a full-time cast member in season 4. She is the show’s salon mogul: co-founder of Lunatic Fringe, a business that grew from one salon into several locations, a beauty school, and a beauty supply store.
Her rise was gradual, and that is the point. Where other cast members arrived with a splash, Katsanevas arrived as a friend, stayed, and became indispensable — so much so that the New York Times profiled her in January 2026 as the franchise’s “center snowflake.” In season 7, she is also navigating a major personal change, having separated in 2026 from her husband of 27 years, Shawn Trujillo, as reported by the Los Angeles Times and People in July 2026.
Early Life & Background
Katsanevas was born in Salt Lake City to Louis and Georgia Katsanevas, Greek immigrants from Chania, Crete. She has six siblings, and her mother died in 1982, when Angie was a child. She attended the same high school as her future RHOSLC costar Heather Gay, a connection that predates both women’s television careers by decades and adds a hometown layer to their on-screen friendship.
She is Greek Orthodox, a faith identity she has spoken about on the show, and she married Shawn Trujillo in 1999. The couple have one daughter, Elektra, whose equestrian success and school life Bravo has featured in cast updates. The couple separated in 2026, ending a 27-year marriage that had also been a business partnership.
Career & Journey
In 1999, Katsanevas co-founded the hair salon Lunatic Fringe with Trujillo. It later expanded into several salon locations, a beauty school, and a beauty supply store, and the couple received the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) Salon MBA award, with Lunatic Fringe later winning NAHA’s Salon Team of the Year award. That business credibility is why her television arc feels grounded: she arrived on RHOSLC as an established employer, not as a newcomer seeking a platform.
Her television career followed the salon’s success. She guested in season 2, joined season 3 in 2022 as a friend, became a full-time cast member in season 4, and participated in BravoCon in November 2023. In 2025 she appeared on Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition in the episode “Overdressed and Underprepared,” and in January 2026 the New York Times profiled her rise from outsider to center snowflake. She remains a main cast member in season 7, premiering September 16, 2026. For the full season 7 cast, see our Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast guide.
