Turner belongs to a generation of British actresses who moved from television to film and stage, a path also taken by Jodie Comer, and she has balanced acting with advocacy, becoming a patron of Women for Women International in 2017 and a recurring face of Louis Vuitton. She was married to singer Joe Jonas from 2019 to 2024, and they have two daughters together. Sophie Turner’s Early Life & Background

Sophie Belinda Turner was born on February 21, 1996, in Northampton, England, the daughter of Sally, a nursery school teacher, and Andrew, the managing director of an international pallet distribution company. She has two older brothers. When she was two, the family moved to Chesterton, Warwickshire, and she grew up in a large Edwardian house near Leamington Spa. She started acting at age three at the Playbox Theatre Company, and she became an ambassador for the company in 2014.

She attended Warwick Prep School until she was 11, then The King’s High School for Girls. When she was cast in Game of Thrones, she had a tutor on set until she was 16, balancing her schoolwork with filming in Northern Ireland and Croatia. She has said that growing up on the show meant she learned her craft in front of the cameras, alongside a cast that became a second family.

She was nominated for a Young Artist Award in 2012 and earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2019.
