Mick Jagger’s Early Life & Background
Michael Philip Jagger was born on July 26, 1943, in Dartford, Kent, to Basil Joseph Jagger, a physical education teacher, and Eva Ensley Jagger, a hairdresser. He attended Dartford Grammar School and the London School of Economics, where he studied business, finance and economics, before leaving to pursue music full time.
Jagger met Keith Richards at Dartford railway station in 1960, after the two had known each other as children, and they began playing together in bands. In 1962, they formed the Rolling Stones with Brian Jones, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts, taking their name from a Muddy Waters song, “Rollin’ Stone”.
